Last week was like an awesome week in terms of the weather!  It proper felt like summer and everyone’s mood was lifted and there was a real buzz of excitement around town.  I had even bought all my summer clothes out to enjoy the weather.  We also bought a new mower from the green reaper in preparation for the new mowing season.  So what happens this week?  It’s forecasted to snow!!  can you believe it?  Talk about a world of extremes! One minute its scorching weather, people were saying how we had the hottest weather in Europe, and then the next minute we are freezing our butts off!!! It’s just so depressing!!  All of us were making plans to go to the beach and stuff and now we are making plans to get out all the winter gear again… I HATE THIS WEATHER… Was really looking forward to getting a sun tan aswell.. haha

On a more positive note, Joey is back in a couple of days so I guess that is something to be happy about.  Will definitely wanna organise a big night out with the gang to welcome him back.  He’s been away for the best part of 7 months and we have all missed him!  Might consider organising a surprise party for when he arrives.. although he might be really tired and a bit bummed out from all the travelling so won’t really be in the mood to party.  Hmmm.. will have to talk to the rest of the gang to decide what to do.  We all bought him a welcome home present which I chose  Oh.. that reminds me that I still have to wrap it!

Perhaps we should start doing some dances to try and persuade the sun to come back?  or maybe Joey will bring the good weather back for us! fingers crossed >:)

Mondays are probably the least favourite day of the week which is probably pretty common for most people. And like most people, the weekend is the time that everyone looks forward to. But surprisingly, yesterday was a pretty good day for me and I actually ended the day thinking “wow, what a great day!”. Reason why? well, a few reasons really. 1) I got feedback for the coursework that I have been working my a** off for!! and yeah, you guessed it… it was good feedback! We had a design a product that was related to fashion. I designed a wearable gadget that allowed the wearer to communicate on the internet through their body language. I won’t go into specifics here, but basically my tutor loved it!! 2) We had a guest visit from a leading product designer that worked for apple!! He gave a talk about some of his inspirations and his time at apple. He also talked about his motivation for leaving apple and starting his own design company. It was truly an inspiration and a privilege to have him come and talk to us.

Makes me think about my future… I wanna do something memorable and meaningful in my career. I really do aspire to working for a big company like apple and then going off to express myself by starting my own company. We can all live in hope!! hehehe

As you guys know I am an art student of sorts and I study product design. Art can come in many different shapes and forms and the actually definition of art can be generic and not fixed. One particular form of art I love is fine art. What makes fine art really intriguing to me is the history and passion of it. Throughout history fine art has continued to evolve into something really spectacular. One of my favourite artists of all time is Rembrandt. He has an uncanny way or portraying moods in his paintings. Another area of art that I am very interested in is graphic design and web design. I love the use of computers to express art. What is fascinating about computer generated art is that you can achieve things that are impossible using traditional methods such as painting or drawing. I have a friend with a web design business and I once went a long to learn how they come up with their designs. I found the process a really fascinating one there are many things that I could see that were similar to product design. The process of conceptual an idea through to design is common throughout the art and design industry.

Although I do like many forms of art, some areas of art I as yet do not know how to appreciate. Some areas of modern area leaves me perplexed. Last year my visit to the tate modern london was an interesting one. Some pieces there I just didn’t know how it can be called art. In comparison to fine art, it is very difficult for me to appreciate modern art are true art. Perhaps my artistic palette is yet to mature. I guess learning about art is a continual process and the more you explore into the different ideas and concepts, and its evolution, the more you can truly appreciate new forms of art (:
